My Fate In Fathepore

This memoir captures the personal journey of a college student from her American coming of age to traditional Pakistani cultural heritage. Her fate is sealed when she boards an international flight. She tries to please her parents by taking turns living in both parents' villages for several months acclimating to their cultural traditions. In the meantime, her parents search for a suitable husband for her. She quickly learns that to endure the transition she must learn to appreciate kinship; especially her relatives. Either they could destroy her or save her. She returns to America acutely transformed from her naive ways into a married woman.
