What happens when you fall for your best friend, but they fall in love with someone else? Nothing is what it seems in this unrequited love, new adult romance.
Miles knew Nessa never had eyes for him. Only when someone new tries to hurt her, he knows he can’t stand back any longer. It’s time she finds out the man he is behind the glasses and beneath the shell he wrapped himself in.
But now he has to hope that once she sees the real him, she’ll stay. Because he doesn’t want to let go, even if someone else tries to make that choice for them both.
Customer Reviews
It’s Always the Quiet Ones!!!
Miles blew me away!! I did not see him coming and I am so in love. He is totally the good guy with a delicious edge. Nesse’s life is complicated and stressful but the girl is resilient, never giving up on her dreams. Their journey is bumpy but so worth it on the end. Definitely my favorite so far……

“I want to be by your side as we figure out the mess that is our lives.”

Nessa is finally starting to get back to normal after her best friend she was crushing on fell for her other friend. She finds herself crushing on Miles, one of the other roommates, but keeps telling herself she can not fall for another roommate.
After Nessa goes on a couple of dates that don't go well but the guy does not get the message and tries to hurt her, Miles knows he just can not stand in the background anymore. Miles and Nessa start spending more time together studying which eventually leads to more but someone else has plans to keep them apart.
I hate writing reviews like this but I struggled with this book right from the beginning. Between all of the insecurities and the constant woe is me feeling from both Miles and Nessa, I was surprised I actually finished the book. I did feel sorry for Miles and what he went through just before college. Once Miles and Nessa finally came together, their chemistry was off the charts.
Stephen Dexter and Emma Wilder did do a good job of narrating the book and bringing the story to life.
