Steamy romance and gripping suspense
I love the mix of romance and suspense in this book. Neither overwhelms the other. I love Oreo, the small dog Piper rescues, and he is a great source of entertainment in this book. I also liked the appearance of familiar characters from the previous books set in the small town of Phail.
Troy and Piper are perfect for each other. They make an instant connection and have a fierce chemistry that is quickly noticed by everyone who sees them together. Both try to fight their attraction to each other since she is only in town for a couple of weeks. When she is attacked, Troy’s protective instincts go into overdrive and Piper ends up a guest in his home after some not so discreet nudging by the matchmaking owners of the B&B where she has been staying. As former military and a security expert, Troy knows his home would be safer for Piper than the B&B. Keeping their hands off each other soon proves to be impossible, and she had never felt safer. They work together with his friends from Midnight Lake Security to discover who is behind the attacks on Piper and why. Piper’s ideas for revitalizing the town have gained her the support and admiration of the townspeople. As the danger escalates for Piper, they rally around to offer her support and to aid the investigation in any way they can. Neither Piper nor Troy were looking for love, but it found them anyway. Will they get a chance to build a future together?
I would happily recommend this riveting book.
