No Ring, No Regret

Nina Okafor broke off her engagement eighteen months ago because Miles Lang would not pick a date, and she has been right about it ever since.

Now she is in Oaxaca for a wedding, and Miles is on the same flight, the same shuttle, the same four-day villa booking.

He does not beg. He does not send a drink. He hands her a printed itinerary in case she needs anything, then leaves her alone — which is infuriating, because Nina never had a problem with Miles being attentive. She had a problem with Miles never saying out loud what he wanted.

Then her mother calls from Lagos, and Miles steps away, and Nina finds out that he took her parents to the airport. That he paid the property tax. That he has been keeping her father's voicemails in a folder for two years, in case she wanted them.
