Publisher Description

This report from the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2), which is administered by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies, evaluates the capabilities and limitations of the most common nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques to detect typical deterioration in concrete bridge decks. The techniques are evaluated for speed, accuracy, precision, and ease of use. Both laboratory and field conditions are presented. The findings of this and other reports have been organized in an electronic repository called the NDToolbox, which will be made available on the TRB website. These findings can also be used to conduct quality control of construction materials, pavements, and tunnels.
