Being a newly qualified teacher is not quite all it's cracked up to be...Emily Greenhowe, bright, new, shining NQT, stalks through the doors of Marsh View Primary School, recycled A4 pad tucked neatly under her arm, only to find that the life of a newly qualified teacher isn't as straightforward as she'd been led to believe. First, there's Mad Madeline Prince, the head, to contend with; then there's Sally Barker, mentor of the rather aggressive canine variety. And that's even before Emily meets the likes of Connor, Joe-Anne, Chardonnay and little Charlie Horner, the angelic-looking boy who doesn't say much.
