NYC Nights 12

Imagine being at the top of your game, whatever your specialty is. Skills are running at optimum, your talents flourishing, the machine that is you humming along. Then imagine life deciding to add an unwanted detour into the mix, such as a family member you’re especially close with (like a mom) having health issues which eventually led to her passing. It’s surreal how life can dictate so much to each of us without bothering to consult in any way. Simply another reminder how everyone has zero control over anything; the lessons never end on this journey.


The reason for the aforementioned and how it relates to this book is because it did. My creative focus was dimmed for awhile, as additional health and life issues arose, for myself and those I loved around me. Coming into 2025, I was hopeful my skills hadn’t diminished, the creativity and imagination still functioning. Found out rather quickly that yes, the talents and abilities were waiting to be unleashed, like water released from a dam. Of course life once again injected more unwanted woe into the mix (my cat Rumour’s declining health; my living situation in Brooklyn compromised by the mismanagement of ownership; and my vehicular beast having issues and out of service for 2 months).


With all that, somehow I was able to squeeze in 6 last shoots before leaving NYC for the alien shores of South Florida. I’m incredibly proud of this breathtaking magical life altering surreal educational monstrous experience that was NYC Nights. This was a photography project which injected meaning, purpose and a fanaticism to keep on finding more places to explore. Something I did- 341 shoots spread out over 12 years. I know there was so much more to see and accomplish, yet I’m satisfied with what I was lucky enough to accumulate. Thank you New York City, very appreciative for the visual delights; you were a willing and able subject. Curious to see what the future holds, gunna find out soon enough.
