Enjoyable reads
After reading what seemed to be the first Diana Hunter story, Old Poison, I was hooked on the character and the smart storytelling.
Preferring to read series in the order they're written, I researched the title of the second book and bought and read it.
Or so I thought.
After reading Silent Coup, and noticing references to earlier events that weren't in Old Poison, I began to wonder if I'd missed something.
Then, reading the third book, Corporaticracy Rules, and wondering why there weren't references to Silent Coup, it was a mention of an upcoming case (Old Poison) that convinced me that in spite of my research efforts, I'd managed to read the three books completely out of order!
My resulting confusion about when storylines and plot developments actually happened was frustrating, and reduced my enjoyment somewhat.
My other complaint: an unusual number of spelling errors. But since I've found similar errors in almost every other Smashwords title I've read, from writers who seem quite literate, I suspect the mistakes are from the conversion or formatting process rather than the authors.
But the problems -- typos and confusing chronology -- have nothing to do with the storytelling, which was excellent! Diana Hunter is a smart, believable, and interesting character. So I fully recommend the books and hope there will soon be more to enjoy!
Just read them chronologically: Corporatocracy Rules, Old Poison, then Silent Coup -- unless there are others I've missed.
