Old Virginny

Yes, my friend, as the Intro Media insists, Carry Me Back to Old Virginny, cause' if I were to ever be exiled from from my native North Carolina, then here this where I would head.


I was born and raised down in Caswell County, just ten miles south of the Virginia State Line and while in high school, I spent as much time in the Old Dominion as is the Tarheel State.

Delaware calls itself the The First State, but I would argue their point, for Virginia was the very first of our permanent colonies, having been setted way back in 1607 at Jamestown.


As for Virginia proper, it consists of four distinct regions, the Tidewater, where the first settlements took place and with all of its great plantations,


Northern Virginia with its maelstrom of endless freeways clogged with bumper-to-bumper traffic,.


The Piedmont, which this author knows the very best  and near and dear to my heart, the Blue Ridge, just like North Carolina's of the same name with stupendous mountains that simply take a person's breath away, particularly in the autumn.


You, my readers will visit and enjoy each of these in turn as were travel from East to West.
