Publisher Description
Found poetry, embodies the experience of standing in on a conversation in progress as a guest. The wonder of it, thanks to technology, is that said conversation is occurring between people who live and lived so far away from me and from each other, key fragments of which can be read in this piece in the original authors’ own voices. This style of poetry achieves a celebration of uniqueness and difference, in the same way that globalization does at its best, by holding space for people to present themselves in their own voices. My hope in highlighting these differences is to arrive at a union among friends, to nurture “companionship as a journey towards Destiny.” (Luigi Giussani)
I found it most natural to anchor this experience of global conversation as an adventure by merging it into what I found most satisfying and beautiful at the time this piece’s conception: classical music’s power to captivate the soul and to mine its very depths. Understanding globalization as a relationship between all people in the world, this adventure of being in relationship to all of reality presupposes a set of external circumstances, but I turn my focus inward, to the movements of desire as it is discerned, provoked by various forces, and the subsequent encounters with beauty.
I have drawn much guidance, impetus, and inspiration from the writings of Luigi Giussani in the creation of this piece, and would be remiss not to mention his collection of commentaries on classical music collected by the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation into the Spirto Gentil Series, as well as the words of Julian Carrón via the English translation of the Spiritual Exercises 2019.
