Once Upon a Unicorn

Wonderful children’s book

This is cute and fun children’s book that is about a unicorn born without a horn. It is all about finding yourself, making decisions, caring and friendships, just perfect for a story about beautiful magical creatures. The illustrations were whimsical, colourful and charming, making them sure to catch a child’s imagination. The narrative is age appropriate and the subject matter positive in nature. Friendship was emphasized even for those who do something wrong. Forgiveness was another great message. The thing I liked the most was how the unicorn decided to try to get a horn, sought help, made a plan, showed bravery and compassion. In the end he gets his horn but not after some hard work. This teaches children that not everything they want is just given to them, they must work hard, and use decision making and critical thinking skills. This is a great book for discussion with your child on many different topics. What’s delightful book.
