Very intense
Amy Lane can write stories that make you laugh a little even with horrific things happening in the Fish Universe. She evokes emotion, sympathy, a sense of justice and one of family. She has unique characters that often fall in the morally grey category but with hearts of gold.
However I can’t unsee or stop imagining the tragedy that befell the children in this book. Severe trigger warnings about child sex abuse needed. I’m not sure I will continue with this series as the bad guys just seem to be getting worse and worse. I read to escape and all too plausible evils leave me feeling unsettled and upset.
