Many children from all over Britain were evacuated from the United Kingdom,during the space of 3 days. From 1st until 3rd September 1939.
The British government organised this evacuation to make sure all children of school age would be transported to a place of safety in liew of the pending War wih Germany. The process was named "Operation Pied Piper."
The group I have included in my short story though is only about the children from my own school in Glasgow. Crookston Street was among the first group to leave since we were closer to the Clydeside where it was deemed to be a future target for the bombers. I have given a short description of the birth of Glasgow at the front of my book for interest sake.
Some of the events of World war during the blitzes were very traumatic, and hard to forget.
The tenement where I was born, and the lovely people who looked after me in Kilbirnie, and whom I had grown fond of. How I accidently found their address in later years and met up with them again, to their delight,
