Oscar Wilde and Myself Oscar Wilde and Myself

Publisher Description

Alfred Douglas, known to many as “Bosie” is remembered mostly for his tumultuous and highly publicized love affair with Oscar Wilde. He is also known for his work as a minor English poet. Born October 22, 1870, Lord Douglas was the third son of John Sholto Douglas, ninth Marquess of Queensberry, and Sibyl, née Montgomery. Douglas met Oscar Wilde through a mutual friend in early summer, 1891, and their relationship is legendary. Douglas wrote this biography in response to Wilde's publication of "De Profundis," a post trial book in which he criticizes his former lover. Though their relationship was strained by the trial, and they ended their affair, the two remained friends. This volume is a fascinating read.
