Publisher Description

A young man's journey through the Philippines' most unlikely obsession: basketball.

In Pacific Rims, Rafe Bartholemew, journalist, New Yorker, and veteran baller, ventures through the Philippines to investigate the country's love of basketball.

From street corners where diehards fashion hoops out of old car parts to the professional league where politicians exploit team loyalties to win elections, Pacific Rims gets the story-and gets in the game.

The Real Zilla ,

Pacific Rims Rules!

I love basketball and I love books, but I don't always love books about basketball. Rafe's adventure story about basketball is a first-rate tale, diving into the world of Filipino-style hoops. He does a great job of bringing to life the world of basketball in the Philippines. I now feel as though I have not lived until I go see a professional basketball game over there.

I recommend this book to everyone! I first read this book about two years ago and I have since read parts of it again. Rafe is a terrific writer. He has a great sense of pace and drama, bringing the story of his time with the Alaska Aces basketball club to life. Buy this book!
