Paco Godia entered a works Maserati in the 1951 Spanish Grand Prix, thus becoming the first Formula One driver in his country's history. After this he drove intemittently throughout the 1950s until he quit in 1958. Paco Godia became a patron of the arts in his own country, establishing the Fundacion Francisco Godia in Barcelona.
