Publisher Description
Umm-ul-Engineering (mother of engineering) in Pakistan - Pakistan Railways - is on deathbed because it is not being looked after well nor are its engineering off shoots being used as adequately as should have been. And its grand master - Ministry of Railways - is not doing anything serious to get her off the deathbed or deploy her 'children' to keep her alive in good health. The sickness is not new, goes back years, and has been slowly creeping in since early 1970s. The first big jolt happened in Gen. Zia ul Haq's era when he allowed Pakistan Army to raise NLC (National Logistics Cell) for carrying imported goods by road instead of by rail.
