Description de l’éditeur

From the USA Today bestselling "master of witty banter" (Entertainment Weekly) comes a hilarious and heartwarming romance about a big city doctor who never expected to find the man of her dreams in the tiny town of Matchmaker Bay.
Dr. Nora Walsh has just been dumped in spectacular fashion, making it the perfect time for a major life change. She figures taking over the medical practice in tiny Matchmaker Bay for a couple of years will help her get over her broken heart, and then she can head back to the big city. But when the first man she sees looks like a superhero god, she wonders if maybe there's something to small-town living after all.
Jake Ramsey also has a broken heart -- one he never expects to heal. He doesn't need people anyway and is content hiding out in his secluded cottage on the beach. But after helping Nora with a medical emergency, he finds himself opening up to the witty, warmhearted doctor. Soon the local matchmakers are working overtime to pair them off, and Jake begins to wonder if his campaign to get Nora to stay is for the town or because he can't bear the thought of her leaving.

Perfect Beach Read

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Paradise Cove by Jenny Holiday is the second book in her Matchmaker Bay series. It can be read as a standalone, but I found the first book Mermaid Inn to be delightful, so I recommend reading that one as well. Dr. Nora Walsh was devastated to catch her fiancé cheating and looking for a fresh start packs up and moves from Toronto to Moonflower Bay, a beautiful small town on the shores of Lake Huron. She intends to stay for two years, pay off her student debt and save up a downpayment for a house to share with her sister back in Toronto. Jake Ramsey’s life as it was came to an end the day his infant son Jude died, and he’s still overwhelmed with grief, getting through each day as best he can. Jake and Nora start spending time together as he makes repairs to the house she rented sight unseen and what begins as friendship grows into something more, but she’s going to be leaving, and he’s not sure how to reconcile how he feels about Nora when he doesn’t deserve to be happy. I loved that this book is set near where I live, and even though Moonflower Bay is fictional, it brought back many happy summer memories. The story is lovely, so emotional, it brought me to tears, and the supporting characters are well written. The HEA is hard-won and so well deserved, I highly recommend reading this book.
