Penelope

The final episode of James Joyce's masterpiece Ulysses, Penelope is a classic piece of Modernist literature.  The episode takes place in Molly Bloom's head and uses stream-of-conspicuousness to show her thoughts while she is in bed at 2 in the morning with her husband Leopold.  Some of the scenes in this final episode contributed to the book being banned when it was first published.


Ulysses, a novel that takes place on 16 June 1904 Dublin, chronicles the journey of Leopold Bloom on an Odyssey paralleling Homer's.  Named the best novel of the 20th Century by Modern Library, Ulysses is considered an international classic.
