Marry in need then fall in love
I have always enjoyed Sandra Sookoo’s writing and this book is no different and I absolutely adored this historical romance. This combination of a marriage of convenience and friends to lovers story starts with a terrible situation for Phoebe who in desperation asks her childhood friend Quentin to marry her. What starts as necessity becomes so much more as these two characters remember why they were such good friends when they were younger. One of the best things about the fact that they spend most of the book married is that this allows one of Ms. Sookoo’s real talents to shine as things progress in the bedroom. Her scenes in this sphere never fail to satisfy the reader. The whole story is one that flips the standard romance which more often than not ends with a wedding and gives Ms. Sookoo room to write a sweet but still spicy historical romance.
