Publisher Description
Meba is a singular but cheerful little humanoid engaged in a job that is as mysterious as it is monotonous... he pushes buttons following codes that only he can decipher. In spite of that he is very happy living, as he does, in a luxurious apartment, surrounded by every comfort, embodying the appearance of an ideal modern life. But Meba is only one tiny part of a complex world. His planet is ruled by Atinids, a species that is organised without hierarchies or laws and lives in a harmonious communal individualism, where decisions are made collectively thanks to powerful Supercomputers.
"Planets Under Glass" is a story that explores two contrasting possibilities. On the one hand, the shadow of technology used negatively as an instrument of control, on the other the possibility of positive evolution which depends on a sophisticated model of democracy based on the collective conscience, the "Cognocracy". This journey through the potential positive and negative consequences of technology explores a future in which the fate of a society could depend on the way it chooses to embrace innovation.
Shocking for some, enlightening for others. As they used to say in the Mother Galaxy, "Planets you visit, realities you find".
