Miss this book
I’ve read another of the author’s book and really enjoyed it so I bought this one hoping to enjoy this series. Unfortunately, the romance between the two leads is very much an abusive relationship in my opinion. I realize this is fiction and maybe I’m particularly sensitive to this topic, but I was unable to finish reading (got through about 75%).
Spoilers ahead- The male lead is constantly manipulating and gaslighting the female lead to the point that she thinks his bad behaviour is her fault, and when she tells him this he gets mad at her. When she tries to leave he physically stops her and this is the part where I had to stop reading because it’s framed narratively as him fighting for their love while all I can see is a woman desperately trying to leave a dangerous situation. It’s just too much for me.
I would not recommend this book in particular.
