Publisher Description

Poems by Susan H. Boggs (Susie) is a collection of poems written over a period of years while living in her family home in the hills of West Virginia. Susies poems reflect her love of nature and her philosophy of life. She sees beauty in flowers, trees, birds, and butterflies found near her home; remembers family activities of bygone days; recalls tales told to children by adults; expresses her respect for labor; and tells some of the many historical events attributed to President Abraham Lincoln. Susies Christian beliefs and wisdom were gained from life experiences with forty years of teaching in one-room schools and growing up with her twelve brothers and sisters. Her devout Christian parents influenced her thinking greatly, as her father was a circuit-riding preacher in the 1800s.
