Main economic trends In November and December 2009, as in previous months of the second half of the year, growth in production and sales in the Polish industrial, construction and retail sectors was higher than projected and higher compared to other countries in the region. Therefore, it is justified to predict that the year-on-year GDP growth rate in the fourth quarter will be higher than in the third quarter. At the same time, forecasting institutions are sticking to projections that inflation will fall in the course of 2010 to below the upper end of the inflation target band. The inflation target recommended by the National Bank of Poland (NBP) in its Monetary Policy Guidelines for 2010 is 2.5%+- 0.5 pct. points.
