Prime Time Lake Trout

We Can Catch So many fish species through a hole in the ice--walleyes, yellow perch, black crappies, pike, even smallmouth, largemouth, and catfish--but winter fishing for them isn't prime time. Water temperatures preclude most fish from moving around extensively and feeding aggressively. Lake trout are an exception to this rule. They find winter water temperatures to their liking--and it opens up a host of feeding opportunities not available throughout much of the open-water season.
