Description de l’éditeur

On 12 September, ACE hosted an event to celebrate the award-winning sculpture by Stephen Cox at St Anselm's Chapel, Canterbury Cathedral. Christopher Irvine, Canon Librarian at the Cathedral and a trustee of ACE, welcomed the audience and explained the process by which the altar was chosen as joint winner of the 2007/8 Award for Art in a Religious Context. The Dean of Canterbury, the Very Reverend Robert Willis, then gave a short introduction to the commissions history. Stephen Cox and Stephen Bann continued the conversation with the following contributions. Stephen Cox: First of all, I'm going to say something of Anselm. And it's something that means a great deal to me because something in the way that he proceeded to think about God I've always seen as a metaphor for the way I'm looking for art, the meaning of art, the significance of art, and I've always felt for me as a contemporary artist, not necessarily agreeing with everything within the church, but we are searching for similar things.
