Fernando Cortez wrote in 1519. Following the first fabulous shipment, the Conquistadors looted the treasures of Montezuma until only one hoard remained. Teudile, servant of Montezuma, secretly tried to ship the hoard to Spain, but the caravels were lost at sea. The location of the treasure was an unsolvable mystery.
