Publisher Description
INTRODUCTION Meeting requirements of dependability in critical applications has led to the development of techniques to improve design of fault tolerant systems which can maintain specified services in spite of fault occurrences. The developed techniques can be dedicated to cope with hardware faults, software faults or both. They are essentially based on two fundamental and complementary approaches: backward error recovery and forward error recovery (1), (4), (6).
