Red Shadows

Red Shadows is the first Solomon Kane story: a wrong on an English road that the Puritan will not leave unavenged, though the chase run to Africa and through sorcery as well as steel. Kane’s God is a hard companion, and Howard gives him a world equal to that hardness. The tale founded a hero who hunts evil as other men hunt bread.
