Life is changing for Canada’s Anishnaabek Nation and for the wolf packs that share their territory.
In the late 1800s, both Native people and wolves are being forced from the land. Starving and lonely, an orphaned timber wolf is befriended by a boy named Red Wolf. But under the Indian Act, Red Wolf is forced to attend a residential school far from the life he knows, and the wolf is alone once more. Courage, love and fate reunite the pair, and they embark on a perilous journey home. But with winter closing in, will Red Wolf and Crooked Ear survive? And if they do, what will they find?

This book was amazing!
I loved this book and the way it was told was very unique! The ending was different than most books and unexpected, which personally I would have preferred something a bit different but it still worked out with the First Nations style. Overall the book was very interesting and it is something that can be read again and the person will still be left with the same impact since the first time. 🌟
Red Wolf
I question the research completed by this author, it is obvious that she knows only a little about wolves and their characteristics. I am therefore unwilling to accept the stories plot as being anything other than fiction. I expected more.
Red Wolf
I was moved by this story and the telling of a dark chapter in our country's history. I can only imagine if it were the white man who was treated such that we too would have turned out the same way. Not feeling, being dumbed by the loss of our children and the inability to be productive and care for ourselves. The question we should remember to ask is who were the savages? Unfortunately I think it was us. Going forward there is still much we can learn from our brethren. Great story telling by Jennifer Dance.
