Publisher Description
The sequel to the #1 New York Times bestseller The Devil Wears Prada includes brand-new scenes featuring the iconic Miranda Priestly.
Almost a decade has passed since Andy Sachs quit the job “a million girls would die for” working for Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine—a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Andy and Emily, her former nemesis and co-assistant, have since joined forces to start a high end bridal magazine, The Plunge, which has quickly become required reading for the young and stylish. Now they get to call all the shots: Andy writes and travels to her heart’s content; Emily plans parties and secures advertising like a seasoned pro. Even better, Andy has met the love of her life. Max Harrison, scion of a storied media family, is confident, successful, and drop-dead gorgeous. Their wedding will be splashed across all the society pages as their friends and family gather to toast the glowing couple.
Andy Sachs is on top of the world. But karma’s a bitch. The morning of her wedding, Andy can’t shake the past. And when she discovers a secret letter with crushing implications, her wedding-day jitters turn to cold dread. Andy realizes that nothing—not her husband, nor her beloved career—is as it seems. She never suspected that her efforts to build a bright new life would lead her back to the darkness she barely escaped ten years ago—and directly into the path of the devil herself...Featuring all new scenes with the villainess we love to hate (hate to love?), Miranda Priestly.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
We were thrilled to hop on for another bumpy, dramatic ride in this sequel to Lauren Weisberger’s smash The Devil Wears Prada. It’s been 10 years since Andy’s nightmare job as an assistant to all-powerful fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly. And although she’s launched her own hugely popular wedding magazine and married the sexy, supportive Max, things aren’t as perfect as they seem. From her surprising choice to remain in the glossy fashion world she once disdained to her friendship with former rival Emily, Andy’s life is full of reminders that being in your thirties doesn’t mean having it all figured out. With doubt and mistrust weakening her relationship and the still-frightening Miranda suddenly reappearing in her professional life, it’s Andy’s flaws and insecurities (and an understandable dash of workplace PTSD) that make this discombobulating new chapter in her story so juicy and compelling.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Nearly a decade after The Devil Wears Prada, Weisberger revisits her heroine Andy Sachs former assistant to the vicious Miranda Priestly of Runway magazine. Now the editor of her own wildly successful bridal magazine, Andy is about to marry media mogul Max Harrison. Although all seems to be going well, a series of events catapult Andy back to her self-conscious Runway days. Her image-obsessed mother-in-law (whose over the top snobbery makes her nearly indistinguishable from Miranda) thinks Andy isn't good enough for Max, and her business partner Emily wants to sell their magazine to Elias-Clark, the publisher of Runway, which would make Andy once again a servant to Miranda. Weisberger adds many plot elements that put Andy and her lifetyle in jeopardy and while the resolutions won't shock Andy's character is what drives the book, after all- this sequel is a fun summer read.
Customer Reviews
The magic is gone
The plot was lacking. I felt that Miranda's ruthlessness was under utilized and Andy's strength a but forgotten. A horrible attempt at cashing in on sequel. This did not take capture magic that could have been for the fashionista audience that devoured The Devil Wears Prada. This is a fluffy read if your mind needs a quick escape. Keep your expectations on that level and you will find your appetite pleasantly fulfilled.
Disappointing
Was excited for this text, but characters are just annoying
Don't bother
This was a struggle to finish, nothing like the first book, very disappointed.
