Reverence and Spinder

All of us struggle from time to time with accepting ourselves—loving ourselves—for who we are, and Spinder is no different. A young, scraggly blue spruce tree, Spinder knows she is not as majestic as Reverence, the old cedar tree who has been at her side, watching over her whole life. At over a hundred feet tall, Reverence is magnificent and wise. Spinder is so short and small and scrawny looking, she knows she isn’t as beautiful as the other spruce trees in the forest nearby and fears that no one will ever love her, or choose her, for their winter celebrations.

Reverence knows better though, having learned long ago that we are all exactly who we are meant to be, and that finding love and acceptance is always possible. It just has to start with feeling that way about ourselves.

A sweet and gentle fable, Reverence and Spinder: A Most Unusual Love Story teaches us that we are all here for a purpose—we are all who we are for a purpose—though sometimes it’s hard to figure out what that purpose is. Whether or not we’ve found it though, and no matter how alone we may feel, there is love all around us. We just need to open our eyes, and hearts, to see it.
