10 Years, 10 Fantastic Stories
In Rozar by Sue Mercury, Nadia will never feel safe on Earth as long as her ex husband is alive, so she signs up to be a mail order bride through the Intergalactic Dating Agency. Rozar is ready to woo his bride and get off Earth for New Vaxx. The spark between these two is genuine, their banter is cute and I found the action tension-filled and exciting.
In Ekpen by Sophie Stern, Ekpen doesn’t really want a bride, but has to get married so that his younger brothers can get married. Holly doesn’t really want to leave Earth as a Grimalkin Bride, but she needs a new start. While these two are perfect for each other, their start sure was rocky! Still, I loved how they clicked (when he finally opens up!) and a planet full of cats is a unique idea.
Wings by Demelza Carlton brings together Kalina and Wings in one explosive night! Wings’ weakness makes for some hilarious misadventures, and Kalina’s assertiveness makes her likeable.
Sin crashes into Zoe’s life in Alpha Star by Elsa Jade. Their mixed up match and Zoe’s disbelief in aliens was such fun to read, and the side characters where entertaining - I’d love to read their books as well.
In Ice by Michelle M. Pillow, Ice and his brothers come to Earth with Galaxy Mail Order Brides and are almost immediately set up by mercenaries that want to capture aliens. Ice is captured when Elle knocks him out; later, she jailbreaks him out. I found the quirks and the “lost in translation” moments very funny, and Elle and Ice’s happily ever after is very sweet.
A galactic matching cruise and D a crash landing later, Tamara and Tazhio fight for their lives and their love in Tazhio by Tamsin Ley. This one is one wild ride, Tamara is not your standard brave and capable crash landing heroine, but that’s what makes her all the more likeable. This one was just getting exciting and I’m eager for more!
Slammer by Candice Gilmer pairs Kolvin, a recently released prisoner of war with Tina from pre-contact Earth, in a mixed up match up gone right! I loved Tina’s scientist curiosity about everything new to her and her wonder at the stars.
In Knox by Kate Rudolph, Aria is a thief and a convicted felon trying to go straight when she gets sucked back in. Knox is the mark, and a diamond the size of a grapefruit is the prize. But fated has other plans… I loved this quick-paced story, with its flashes of action and high-heat romance. Aria and Knox are on fire together and I loved their chemistry.
Thorrn by Skye MacKinnon: I loved Skye MacKinnon’s spin on the Intergalactic Dating Agency - Scottish Aliens! The Gaelic curses were a hoot, the two pairs of buff arms lead to plenty of fun, and let’s not forget: KILTS! Jenny and Thorrn’s story has surprising depth for a shorter novel, and I really liked that they got such a sweet happily ever after.
