It seems, from birth, Wil's lot in life was predetermined-to cultivate enchanted plants that fill his realm. Alas, at even this he's shoddy, lacking the gnomish magic required to be a decent gardener. Wil's come to think his destiny is but a cosmic joke.

Meanwhile, Roddy struggles with survival's guilt-a life of pain. Still haunted by the images of murdered kin, he knows no peace. A rabbit can't imagine future freedom in a reverie, but picking out the path to progress isn't easy alone.
