One of the most interesting facts about this collaborative and iconic edition is that Irish-born writer Oscar Wilde and English avant-garde illustrator, Aubrey Beardsley, while acquainted with one another, were by all accounts, not friends. Although the two men had much in common in their views on art, aestheticism and decadence, their relationship is said to have been strained.
