In this book, the main focus is on Utah’s Great Salt Lake and Lake Mead, a reservoir created by the Colorado River in Nevada. In addition to those two lakes I have included information about other lakes located in North America, South America, Africa and Asia.
Gathering data on numerous bodies of water around the world, I noted the variations in the size of these lakes over time. What I saw was concerning. A great many of the lakes for which I collected data showed a dramatic, progressive, and long-established trend of declining in area size and water volume. What are the causes, and what does it mean?
I hope this book raises awareness levels to a higher degree and hopefully persuade people to take this issue more seriously.
