The story revolves around Diem Nhi, a young girl who is forced to marry a man who has lost three wives in a row in the past ten years. Her mother, Ngach Niang, is overwhelmed by emotions and tries to comfort her, but is confronted by her father, Ky Cap Ma, who tells her that her concubine will become the prince's blessing.

Diem Nhi's mother is shocked and unsure of the person she is supposed to marry, but is told that it is the reigning Saint Supreme, Ba Lai Dan Chan. She is unsure if the fourth prince, Dan Chan, is the right choice for her daughter, as she has heard about him for a long time.

Diem Nhi's mother is heartbroken and tries to comfort her daughter, urging her not to be afraid of the rumors about him. She believes that her daughter is blessed and will live forever, safe, and healthy, despite the cruel fate he has faced.

Diem Nhi, a young prince, is ordained as a prince by his father, Old Tu. Three days later, he is invited to see Princess Duc Phi in the palace. Upon entering the palace, Diem Nhi is introduced to Princess Duc Phi, who is a beautiful and gentle girl. She is given a tu don by her mother, who instructs her to speak less and act tactfully. After a cup of tea, Diem Nhi leaves the palace and returns home.
