Once I knew my kids would be okay, I started looking for work. Bluebird Books hired me almost right away. I was to run the new kids program that Trinity was starting. That was where I met Zach and his daughter, Grace.
Zach was the new owner of the Willow Valley Inn. He'd come in to return a book his daughter had borrowed from the program. We exchanged pleasantries and that was when the computer had gone down. Zach lost his patience, and that was when our pleasant conversation turned sour. I wasn't worried about it because I figured I'd never see him again.
I was wrong. It turns out in a small town, everyone sees everyone almost daily, if not twice a day. At the grocery store, the gas station, the elementary school and as luck would have it, the bookstore. Soon, our conversations turn pleasant again, and without even trying, I find myself drawn to him. Then he asks me out on a date.
Despite my reservations, I decided to take a chance on love again. But just when things start to look up, Zach's ex-wife suddenly reappears, causing chaos in his life once more. Which somehow causes chaos in mine when my children begin acting out.
Leaning on one another for support, we navigate obstacles that life throws at us. As time passes I begin to wonder if another chance at love will bring us closer together or make each one of us run the other way?

AMAZINGLY written, this author grips your interest from the start. This book deals with grief, the kind you find in death and the kind you find in divorce, but no matter the reason the grieving process is the same and needs to be lived and sometimes the scars on the heart take time to heal but they do. Zach and Iris are both victims of grief. Iris is widowed for three years now with two boys aged eleven and eight and has moved back to Willow Valley her place of origin growing up. Zach has been divorced for two year with an eleven year old daughter with whom he now lives with full time in Willow Valley. He as well has moved back home from the city to open up a bed and breakfast with his mother. When Iris meet’s Zach, the encounter is not very favourable but the chemistry is strong. They keep running unexpectedly into each other and develop a strong friendship with an undeniable attraction that leads them to multiple nights of intense passion. Iris is thrown into uncharted territory and soon the guilt of not having her dead husband in mind anymore has her reconsidering the whole relationship. A very emotional reading, with very strong characters, this author has a way with of portraying the different stages of grief and the happiness it brings once the heart learns to heal. A most recommended reading and a 5 stars ⭐️ rating!
