Screening for Substance Use

This eBook provides an overview of screening guidelines for substance use in health care settings, and demonstrates concepts that describe screening tests including sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values. The Substance Abuse Research Education and Training (SARET) Program is an innovative initiative to spur interest in substance use and related research among students from diverse disciplines. SARET is a collaboration between NYU’s School of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Dentistry, School of Social Work and College of Global Public Health.
