Secular Shrines and Commemorative Art

New Urban Arts is a nationally recognized interdisciplinary art studio for high school students in Providence, RI. This publication shares the curriculum from the 2007 summer Art Inquiry program which brought together ten high school students with scholars and artists in an exploration of shrine-making as a creative practice fueled by a human impulse to link moments and meaning to familiar objects. This program resource guide is useful for artists, educators, art program administrators and young people.
