Publisher Description

This is an electronic adaptation of a limited edition livre deluxe originally printed in 1976. Lithographs and embossings by Richard Sturm are paired with poems by Daniel Zimmerman, and a foreword by Robert Creeley.

What we wanted to achieve was a zygote: a chicken or egg relationship between the word and the image. The poems disclose a journey back from Canterbury to the Tabard. It leads to the discovery of who is speaking and to whom the reader, attentive to the pattern of the work, may be returned. The spirit of the gothic window pervades this collaboration as a hurricane fence, a foreground disappearing to allow the viewer access to the story.

We have added audio recordings of Daniel Zimmerman reading each of his poems, as well as some historical photos and background information of interest.
