Publisher Description

AT A SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE meeting that I recently attended, I was shocked to see some senators and other attendees disinterested in, disrespectful of and disengaged from the discussion. The matter being discussed was not some obscure tax law that might justify the occasional yawn, but the support systems available to veterans after they have served their country and are released from military service. For most veterans, the reintegration process is challenging; those who have been released for medical reasons due to severe combat injuries face huge additional stresses on themselves and their families. The lack of concern for veterans that I witnessed at the Senate was sad confirmation that veterans' needs continue to be ignored by the government they believe they are serving.
