On the ship he met Arnoux family and fell in love with Mrs Marie Arnoux. Later he went to Paris to study the Law. There he aquired some useful bonds and tasted a secular life. Suddenly he finds a way to be closer to Mrs Arnoux. Later he defended a thesis but had to come back to the hometown, because his mother couldn't send him money anymore.
