This wasn’t my favorite book in the series
This wasn’t my favorite book in the series. It reminds me a lot of the reactions I had to Shimmering Emeralds (book 3 of the series), and for several of the same reasons. I don’t know that I can really call them continuity errors, but real life just doesn’t work the way this book suggests it does. Each time fantasy trumped reality, I was left snarling in frustration. Even in a small town, the legal system, including the police and child protective services, would never operate like this. I was also confused by who Avery is in this book. The woman I remember from the beginning of the series was happy to tell the gossiping old biddies where to go and how to get there. She certainly wasn’t this woman, constantly bowing to maternal pressure. One thing I was very glad to see was that even though this is tagged as a “love triangle” story, it really doesn’t read like one. Avery knows her choice fairly early on and most of her actions support that choice throughout the book.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
