Mike Shayne doesn't pretend to know a lot about Latin American politics, but he does know that the appearance of an attorney general with ties to a corrupt military regime won't go unnoticed in Miami. Parties from all sides of the political spectrum are planning protests, counter-protests and—quite possibly—an assassination attempt.


 


Camilla Steele has a very personal reason for wanting the politician dead. Years ago, he put her ex-husband behind bars for the rape and murder of a local singer, a wrongful conviction that ended in his execution. Since then, Camilla's life has been in a downward spiral of drinking, drugs, and suicide attempts. To Shayne, a woman with nothing to lose makes the perfect pawn for someone with everything to gain. And he has only one day to figure out who's going to put the gun in her hand . . .
