Publisher Description
Skara Brae is the name given to a ruined cluster of neolithic houses on the west coast of the largest of the Orkney Islands, which lie off the north of Scotland, UK. The buildings, buried for millennia under dunes, were exposed by a storm in 1850.
The surviving stone houses were built some five thousand years ago and lived in for about six centuries (maybe thirty human generations).
This eBook analyzes the architecture of these ancient and yet surprisingly sophisticated dwellings. It also provides an outline of the archaeology that uncovered their secrets.
