Farmers in other lands might only plant 20 seeds a minute, while here we have progressed to 300 in a second. Yet there is a kinship. We try to grow our crops, our livestock, and raise our families, against the odds of a changing Mother Nature, falling markets, and corrupted farm policies. Still, we all find something good along the way. The demise of the American Farmer and it’s supporting rural communities may be the next travesty of the land, after the collapse of our Native American society. Similar forces seem to be at work.

Yet who else better can see the sky at night, feel the air, hear the rain, or weather the drought or flood. What strips away a person’s mask any more than a quiet empty space out in the open, that rages of nature’s thunder. From the middle of the heartland, is where we might just best find the beyond.
