Such a Long Journey
After reading “A Fine Balance” and now this novel, there can be no doubt in my mind that Rohinton Mistry knows the fabric of Indian society to its very core. He illuminates life in the poorer part of India with such utter perfection that you actually feel the oppression, the heat, the filth and the corruption. After reading this story I almost feel as though I have been there, and seen life through their eyes. An expert weaver of tales, Mistry did not disappoint with this book, although I did like “A Fine Balance”: somewhat more.
