On her first voyage home to England from her wintering grounds in the Cape of Good Hope, a young swallow named Belle must curb her curiosity to learn the instinct and skill required to survive a perilous race to overcome the limits of time and a world of distraction and danger. However, relearning instinct is hard for a wide-eyed swallow when the journey begins to take her on a course of its choosing. For every encounter that awakens her fledgling senses, Belle’s chances of making it home for Britain’s short summer season recede fast.  

On her mutli-coloured, multinational journey over a world deformed by both man and nature she will meet Seamus, who will bring new meaning to her adventure. A chain of unpredictable events will turn what should have been a routine job into a wild adventure, shaping their world in ways they thought impossible. But with many clocks ticking, will they make it home in time for the season? Will they make it home at all?  

One swallow may not make a summer, but two can illuminate the weird and the wonderful.
