Publisher Description
Johann David Wyss is best remembered for his book “The Swiss Family Robinson”.
On the example of Robinson family, author shows that one does not have to have the usual comforts of life in order to be comfortable and happy. The family was shipwrecked and everyone else on the ship perished when they deserted it. Found themselves on the uninhabited island, they immediately started to tackle the most urgent needs like food and shelter. The family relations became stronger in front of difficulties, that awaited them.
“Swiss Family Robinson” was translated on the most of European languages. It has since become one of the most popular books of all time. Enjoy the reading.

The Swiss Family Robinson
I am profoundly displeased with the ridiculous suggestions of flora and fauna. The father trying to appear as the voice of knowledge should have learned the lesson, “It is better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” His claims of details might have been accurate for his day but so obviously wrong in light of today’s knowledge. But the bulk of my blame lays in the author’s lap. He gathered together all manner of flora & fauna from around the earth and combined them in a convenient blend albeit vastly implausible life forms upon one island. Kangaroos from Australia, Bromeliads from South America, porcupines from Africa, Salmon from North America. He may describe these relatively accurately and combines them fortuitously for his story, never mind how implausible. Quite ridiculous!
